Don Anderson - "The Back Man" - Tribute
26 October 2013
Donald Anderson 17/6/32 – 16/10/08
Don Anderson for years was known as “The Back Man” although he treated many injuries in other parts of the body. He worked out of Eglinton for 30 years and he was well known over all of Ireland especially the North West and Donegal.
As a young man Don worked for Hunters Bakery in Londonderry delivering bread in a van. Of the people he delivered bread to, if any complained about aches and pains, he would ask if he could have a look. This was how he started to help people.
He lived in Philips Street in Londonderry and eventually left Hunters bakery to work full time at treating injuries from his home which he did, for a number of years.
Due to the troubles at the time, he was advised by many patients to leave Londonderry as he would get more work so he took their advice and moved to Eglinton where he spent the rest of his career.
Originally he worked out of his home at number 14 Coolafinney road and then moved into number 12 where he finished his career.
Don retired in 1997 at the age of 65. He then moved to Limavady to spend his retirement. He passed away on 26th October 2008 at the age of 76 from a heart attack.
Don was a wonderful man, a great husband, father and a great healer. He was at his time seen as the best in Ireland not only seeing people but seeing animals too.
Dons’ son Philip who took up the same business runs Andersons Injury Clinic in Limavady. He opened in 2006 and the business has been growing ever since.
